For this project, you will create a photographic essay & a theme analysis that will focus on one of the six themes of the novel. In creating this, you will be required to include not only a photograph but also a quote or passage from the text that supports why the photograph and quote or passage are representative of the theme you have chosen. Theme Choices Change Under Crisis Denial Innocence versus Age Reality versus Memory Rebellion versus Conformity War and Peace
Requirements ⇒ Theme Choice: What do you want your photographic essay to explore? This should appear as the title. ⇒ 4 passages (or substantial quotes) from the text: Your passages must relate directly to the theme you chose. ⇒ At least 4 images: You must have at least one image per quote or passage but can have more if you choose. You can find your images on the internet or create them yourself with a computer or your own camera. They can be photographs of places or people, paintings or photos of artwork, or digitally created images—as long as they are school‐appropriate;nothing is out of bounds. ⇒Theme Analysis: When you have completed your photographic essay, write a one page summary about what made you choose your theme and discuss the choices you made in selecting and pairing passages and images; in essence, this will be three to four paragraphs total: one about why you believe this is the main theme of the novel and a minimum of two paragraphs about your photograph choices and how they match the theme. You may create your essay electronically in the form of a document, or you may create a tangible artifact (poster format).
